About Me

I received my PhD in philosophy from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2023.

My primary area of research is the philosophy of mind and philosophy of cognitive science. My dissertation was on the relationship between how concepts (understood as mental representations) are conceived of in philosophy and psychology. I argue that there is no way to reconcile these competing conceptions. Rather, what philosophers have taken to be “concepts” should be understand as the constituents of what psychologists call “concepts.” I also argue that an approach to conceptual representations in either field must be both highly pluralistic and deeply ecological in its approach.

I also have an interest in early modern philosophy (in particular, the philosophy of Descartes), social and political philosophy, and epistemology.

I am currently working as an instructor at Allan Hancock College.
